Description
Up for bid is a Yamaha rotary C trumpet in silver plate. This is an interesting horn with some interesting history. The model number is YTR9X3 and the serial number is 750202. Supposedly this trumpet was manufactured by Schilke as a prototype for Yamaha in the mid 1970's. This horn has only been played professionally. The specs on the horn are as follows: Bell dia: 5", Bore size: .434" The mouthpipe has a marking on it of LILO, not sure what that means at all. The first slide has a kicker on it recently fabricated and installed by Rob Phillips of Buckeye Brass & Winds in Columbus Ohio. The bell bend has signs of a rough bend, the radius is nice and round but the condition of the tubing shows that it wasn't heavily polished to eliminate the imperfections, actually a good thing leaving plenty of material in this area. The sound is very dark. I've had some experienced trumpet players play this horn, and they all say it's a very good solid horn, nice response, but a dark. And 4th line D has to be played 1&3. A bit stuffy in the low register. The horn is beautiful, the finish is good, no signs of damage, the silver plate is very good (looks like a Schilke finished horn!) The rotors are all tight and the linkage is good and quiet. If you have any questions please let me know, I'll answer as best I can. Standard shank trumpet mouthpiece fits. Comes with a nice case, which is actually a Weril case. I can take more pictures, and if anyone else has good info on this, let me know, if it's legit, I'll post it.
