Description
Hello. For sale is an antique Bundy Sousaphone that came out of an attic for an estate sale. It is in used condition, and all we've done is wipe off the dust, and with a good cleaning & minimal restoration, will make a very nice, fine playing vintage sousaphone. It is numbered 15566 on the middle valve, which with what research we've done places it in the early 1900's. On the collar connecting the bell & horn, it in numbered 536. The bell is in pretty good shape, with just some very small dents, dings, and scratches. All the valves seem to work fine, and they have a very nice inlay mother-of-pearl on the buttons. The brass and tubes are in good condition, with it's share of small dings, and only a few spots wear the brass has worn down. Mainly the worst wear is on the bends of the small tubes, where there was a repair made, but obviously not well enough as someone put some tape around. The stem & mouthpiece were not included, and it is missing one of the anchor screw on the collar connecting the bell(still quite secure). My daughter actually tried playing it w/o a mouthpiece, and it sounded surprisingly well. So though not complete, and in used condition, it's in good condition(especially for it's age), and with a bit of work will be a pretty nice instrument. Please contact with questions or comments, as always low start w/ no reserve, and thanks for your time.On Nov-18-08 at 14:33:35 PST, seller added the following information:Hello. Though in the pictures the flash heavily points out the scratches & dings, it is really alot nicer of an instrument than the photo's reveal. By standing there and looking at it, most of the exposed flaws are hardly noticeable, it does have a very good shine, and as mentioned, with a good polishing, would look great. Hope this helps. Thanks.
