Description
Lower Starting Price and Buy It Now Price Stoner Copper Custom Bb Trumpet - Design & construction: Garry Stoner, Stoner Brass, Slater, Iowa - Bell:  Electroformed copper, 5 5/8" rim, beadless (Stoner Brass) - Tuning slide: Custom, brass (M/K Drawing) - Leadpipe: Custom, bronze (M/K Drawing) - Receiver: Custom, brass (Stoner Brass) - Valve section & slides: ML 0.460 bore (New York Trumpet Company) This is Garry's first horn bearing his name alone.  The following is taken from Garry's own initial description of this trumpet.  100% new parts were used in building this trumpet!  The bell is electroformed copper with a 5 5/8ths" beadless rim.  This rim looks fragile, but is in fact quite hard, both to enhance tone and increase strength.  The valve section is standard NYTC, the same as used on the Stage 1 New York 7, Stage 1 California Light, and several others.  This valve section has proven its durability under extremes of professional use, and offers a smooth, quick action praised by many.  The leadpipe and tuning slide, designed by Mike Bulow, are matched components that contribute greatly to one of this horn's intended goals: a trumpet with hall-filling capabilities of a large bore, but comfortably playable by those of us lacking Hindenburg-sized lungs.  The bronze leadpipe complements the dark side of the copper bell, while the brass tuning slide with its unique shape both adds to high harmonics and carries the effective leadpipe taper farther forward than the average horn, adding significantly to the volume of sound without requiring a large volume of air. - A trumpet designed to deliver the rich harmonics and extreme dynamic capabilities of a copper bell, yet possessing high range brilliance similar to a brass bell. - A trumpet delivering a large room-filling tone, but with average resistance and positive slotting that allow ease of play. - A one-of-a-kind custom instrument, lovingly crafted by me (Garry) and offered to you in hopes of furthering your enjoyment of music. Although this trumpet looks similar to The NYTC Stage 1 Magnum, this Stoner is different (and quite a bit cheaper!).  When you compare prices on custom horns today, this horn is an excellent buy!  At 2 lb 6 oz, it has the advantage of being almost half a pound lighter.  When compared to the Magnum, this horn is slightly darker in tone, has a greater dynamic range, has slightly less projection, plays easier for the casual/semi-pro player, and is lighter. Quality of materials and construction are identical. Reason for selling:  I've reluctantly agreed to play French Horn for the coming year to fill out the horn section in the main band that I play in.  And I don't feel comfortable having so much tied up in so many trumpets that will just sit unplayed ( my wife doesn't either ).  So, I've recently sold two trumpets through other venues and now I'm putting the Stoner up for sale, with a heavy heart I might add. This trumpet is very close to the same condition as received new from Garry.  No dents!  The valves were excellent to begin with and now are even better.  The horn's in excellent CLEAN condition!  The horn is in Raw brass and copper.  Check the photos out!  I'm including a TorpedoBag that's in great condition except for the zipper on the pouch that doesn't zip closed;  probably a new pouch could be had easily.  The TorpedoBag accommodates the large bell very well.  Basically, I used a Pro-Tec double case that accepted the large bell easily and only recently acquired the TorpedoBag.  The winning bidder may deduct $75 from the winning bid price if the TorpedoBag is not wanted. Only PayPal or a USPS Money Order will be accepted.  Free UPS Ground shipping within the lower 48 states;  shipping may be more elsewhere.  Bidders with zero or significant negative feedback please contact me first before bidding.  Please ask questions before bidding to insure your satisfaction if you win the auction!  Good Luck!
