Since 1927, Calicchio Trumpets have been handcrafted with Domenick's mission: "I DO MY BEST TO MAKE EACH TRUMPET BETTER THAN THE ONE BEFORE". Domenick Calicchio, the founder, emmigrated from Italy in 1923. He was already an accomplished tool and die maker when he began working at the RUDY MUCK mouthpiece factory in New York City. Soon after, Domenick bought a lathe and began making his own mouthpieces. During his lifetime he was granted two U.S. Patents for different adjustable mouthpieces. Within a few years he began handcrafting his own trumpets. Like every other trumpet maker in the early 1900's he modeled his horns after the French Besson. Domenick made each instrument for the musician. He would listen and take great pride in making that musician happy. He experimented with different tapers, materials, designs and tooling throughout his lifetime. In 1947, Domenick and his wife Celia relocated to California. There he worked closely with the finest trumpet players at the forefront of the recording industry, establishing Calicchio trumpets as the instrument of choice for the recording musician. Place a Bid!
