N. White Company halted musical instrument production in 1942 because of the war as so many companies did, and began to manufacture parts for the war effort instead.      THIS ADDS TO THE VALUE OF THIS UNIQUE TROMBONE.    NOT ONLY WAS IT MADE IN 1941 ESPECIALLY FOR THE MILITARY BANDS FOR WWII,   BUT IT WAS ONE OF THE LAST INSTRUMENTS MADE UNTIL AFTER THE WAR!!!     The Liberty model trombone was King’s most popular model sold before WWII.    The main difference between the Liberty and the Liberty 2B is the dual bore slide on the 2B.     COLLECTING IS FINE, BUT YOU NEED TO PLAY THIS TROMBONE!!   This trombone is ready to be an everyday player.     You'll fall in love with the tone and response of this classic instrument.     I play tested this trombone in a band rehearsal and was amazed at how nicely it plays. (I used a 12C mouthpiece)  In many ways, I like it better than the 2B version that replaced it.  It has an outstanding tone!  Surprisingly it is more free-blowing, playing with less resistance than a 2B and has a more open middle and low register.  The tone is big and full for a small trombone.  While the middle and low range are outstanding, the upper register is easy and just “sings”.  The slide is smooth and easy as well.  There is no wear on the inner stockings.     Satin Silver finish was an original factory option, but was a premium finish that you rarely if ever see.    SATIN SILVER WAS THE ORIGINAL FINISH ON THIS FINE TROMBONE      The trombone was in nice condition when I purchased it.  It had almost no dents or dings.  It just needed a new finish to make it look as great as it sounds!  Serial number is 253445  which dates it to around 1941.       The trombone has been completely restored to its original satin silver plate finish.   Featuring:    a stunning SATIN SILVER BELL with GOLD inside the bell     The remainder of the bell section has new bright silver plating.   The slide section is bright silver on the upper section, and slide crook.    The outer slide section is satin silver.     The slide is fast and smooth and has excellent compression.   All serial numbers  match on the slide, bell section and tuning slide!      This is the type of trombone Tommy Dorsey was playing in the early 1940’s.     YOU JUST CAN'T BEAT THE CRAFTSMANSHIP AND METAL USED IN THESE   VINTAGE HN WHITE KING TROMBONES!   THIS ONE'S READY FOR ANOTHER 67+ YEARS OF FANTASTIC MUSIC!       A new GOLD PLATED 12C mouthpiece   and the classic vintage King “French Style” alligator case are included.       THE SLIDE ACTION IS EXCELLENT – QUIET, FAST AND SMOOTH!!!     This is not your typical used instrument.  It has had most dents removed, all joints inspected, taken apart where necessary, and carefully reassembled with a brand new silver plated finish!  It looks and plays like new!    The restoration was done by a respected local shop with over 40 years experience in woodwind and brass instrument restorations and repairs.  Some of their employees worked at the H.N.
