Description
I am selling my absolutely gorgeous Holton Merker-Matic. It is approximately 8 years old and is in nearly perfect condition. It has been barely used. This horn is a PROFESSIONAL model # H175 which has a large-throated nickel silver bell, and the horn has nickel silver plating. The lacquer finish is beautiful! (99.999%). Special features of this model include the following: heavyweight valve caps which add weight for a more stable sound and greater resonance; an adjustable pinky hook to ensure a perfect fit for any size hand; and an additional spit valve on the 3rd Bb slide which is convenient for emptying, as we all know that this is the most awkward slide to pull out quickly and quietly! This instrument is a terrific choice if you are looking to buy a Holton! The sound is warm, yet clear and strong. The horn can take a lot of air when you push it to the limits, and the delicate, soft passages are easy to play without much effort due to the quick response. Legato and staccato playing are equally fine. Pitch is stable. The evenness of the tone throughout the ranges is one of my favorite features of this horn. All of the various notes seem to have equal openness, response, articulations, and resistance. Here's the really good part........... This particular pro model Holton sells for $4,300 - $5,000, NEW!!! My Merker-Matic is as close to NEW as you can get! There are NO DENTS / NO SCRATCHES. There have NEVER been any repairs made to the horn. If you search really hard, you can find a teeny tiny ding on the bell about the size of a pencil tip. Other than that, there is a miniscule bit of wear on the tips of the valve levers, right by the top edge which doesn't even show up in pictures. This horn shines like a new one and plays just as well! It's condition is a 10 out of 10! Save yourself a heap of money and buy this hardly used one for thousands of $$$$ less!
