Schmid ES4 (F/Bflat/highF) Triple French Horn' Description I am offering up for sale a terrific gold brass schmid triple. This horn is very even and in tune on all 3 sides of the horn. I always hesitated making a switch to any triple but this horn is so open and the low F horn is so great I was able to play it easily right away. It has a full beautiful sound. This is an older horn from around 1994 and is the same as the current model. I was told when I bought it that it was used by one of the first horns in the Budapest Horn Quartet/Symphony for many years and I have used it professionally for over a year now in many concerts,shows and films. The horn is in a great shape with some minor wear on the lacquer(I moved the fingerhook and removed the filpper) and little dings here and there. The valve compression is about right for a horn of this age. (according to Wayne Tanabe in NYC who just ultrasonically cleaned the horn last month, he said they were just fine) This horn is more free and smooth than most other schmids I have tried and the valves not being as tight as the new ones probably has some to do with it in addition to it being broken in professionally. My only reason for selling the instrument is that I found a new yellow brass triple that I think is better for my sound. It comes with a W yellow brass bell with garland from 2007. The horn changes quite a bit with different bells so I am sure the buyer would like to pick out a bell that suited them personally but this bell has a beautiful full sound. On the Schmid website order form this horn is currently about 19600 US dollars. (gold brass is 10 percent more).My buy it now price is over 2500 less than the average used price and almost 8000 less than new!
