This instrument has many positive reviews and those familiar with the 8D highly rate it. It is rated above average in tone and playability. The 8D has been the top player's choice in double French horns since 1937.This horn has a nickel silver finish and features a screw bell for easier transport. Key features are: keys F/Bb, tapered rotors and bearings, fully mechanical change valve, adjustable levers and a lacquer finish.  Includes a 7BW mouthpiece.Its rich, full tone can be controlled even at dynamic extremes, one quality that continually makes the 8D the clear choice of leading orchestral horn players. There are no major dents in the horn but it does have some small depressions on the neck located between  were the keys are and the bell attachment point. Also,  near the outer edge of the bell there are three (3) small nicks (Please see picture.) The  horn finish does have some scratches in it as you would expect. The case is structurally sound and all hardware is in good condition. The vinyl case covering does have two (2) nicks in it (Please see picture.) The case trim along the edge does have some white scuff marks. These are all cosmetic problems.The case lining is in good condition with no real problem. There  is a small section along the front edge were the lining has come unglued from the case. This is an area approximately 8 inches long and 1/2" wide.
