Description
Kanstul-French Besson Bb Brevete MLP (.464 bore) in Excellent condition. Slightly worn lacquer in minor areas. Stamped serial #1259 and a #1 above it on the lower second valve casing (bell side) stands for the first batch that Zig made in the early ’80s. This is a RARE find!! In 1980, Boosey & Hawkes, who owned the rights to Besson, asked (Zig) Kanstul to recreate the tooling & machinery necessary in redesigning the original Pre-War French Besson trumpets. Not only did he design them with impeccable authenticity, some say that he even SURPASSED the quality of greatness found in the original Horns. I would have to agree! It’s MLP bore makes it the ultimate free-blowing Lead trumpet. It is intensely rich and warm down low, yet brilliant, cutting & FAT up high. Trust me, you've never played anything so open, free and in-tune!! The MLP is configured just right so that the player does NOT fall into it, like many “large” bore horns. Conrad Gozzo would have LOVED this horn and since you cannot get them anymore, I would say that this is an awesomely precious find! Add to that a “Reeves” patented valve alignment and you have the perfect Lead trumpet. (3rd valve is slightly lowered by about a 32nd of an inch due to the perfection of Reeves’ alignment.)
