Description
Conn 88H Professional Trombone 8 1/2 inch rose Brass Bell .547 Large Bore F Attachment Excellent Slide Straight and Clean For many years there were only two real choices in large bore symphonic trombones, Conn 88h's and Bach 42's. I got my Conn 88h  in 1967 and have been a fan ever since. I still have "Betsy" and when I show her off, she gets rave reviews. A Conn 88H is not only a great choice in a big symphonic setting, it has the ability to color a tone and provide nuances that the other brand struggles with. The 88H was certainly not designed with a jazz setting in mind but if you are going to play a large bore trombone in a jazz setting, the 88h is the one to play. From pedals that pop, to a warmth in the middle range and finally soaring into the upper register, the 88h can pretty much do it all. This one was the large bore choice of a trombonist that got it brand new in about 1978 - serial is G (1970's) D (April) 8(1978) XXX. He played it in his symphonic jobs but ultimately ended up doing way more commercial gigs and sold it in order to buy a custom small bore horn. I was sold on it the minute I picked it up and the slide was absolutely exceptional and then heard the sound. It is a real player. Good looking- You can see traces of good dentwork done in the past- note the patch of lacquer missing on the attachment picture. There is still at least 90% of the lacquer remaining and as you can see, it is a very nice horn to behold. As mentioned the slide is excellent- fast smooth free and quiet. The inner slide tubes are completely intact. Conn had figured it out by this time. Comes with a Bach 6 1/2 AL mouthpiece, the same as I played on my 88H, and the original case, a bit worn but still fully functional. Your chance to own a piece of trombone history I will ship to the lower 48 states for $45 and elsewhere for actual cost by US Postal service. Eurpote and Asia should expect to pay about $100 for shipping
