Description
This is a 1935 H.N.White King Silvertone cornet, serial number 163322, in overall good solid condition. The original lacquer is at about 40%, totally on the body of the horn- the sterling silver bell (see photo for sterling mark) has no lacquer left. The horn has very little in the way of dents or previous dent work- there is a very small bit of dent work on the leadpipe just after the receiver, and on the number 2 slide pull; there is an obvious solder at the end of the number 3 slide. There are no patches on the horn. That's pretty much it- the bell and bell tail are in beautiful undamaged shape. The horn is stamped "MEDIUM BORE"; I measure it to be right around .455". Valve compression isn't too bad, but there's a bit of blow-by. The pistons show no plating wear, are in good shape, and all have matching serial numbers on the spring barrels. The case is not original, but is a decent 60s/70s vintage King cornet case. No mouthpiece comes with the horn.
